Donald Trump is facing significant challenges with women voters and is now making a concerted effort to win them over.

During a recent town hall on Fox News in Georgia, Trump fielded questions from an all-female audience and moderator Harris Faulkner.

At the event, he touted himself as the "father of IVF," praised a female senator as a "fantastically attractive person," and faced pointed inquiries regarding his stance on abortion.

Audience members, many of whom expressed nervousness, asked about childcare, immigration, and the economy—topics familiar to the former president. When addressing inflation and living costs, Trump promised to increase fossil fuel drilling in the U.S. and vowed to lower energy expenses. He also supported expanding child tax credits in response to a question about helping parents manage the high costs of raising children.

However, when it came to fertility treatment, Trump faltered. He claimed, “I’m the father of IVF,” a comment his campaign later clarified was meant in jest. He also mentioned asking Republican Senator Katie Britt for insights on fertility treatment, referring to her as "a fantastically attractive person," while asserting that the Republican Party supports IVF.

This moment highlighted Trump’s vulnerabilities with female voters, a group that has largely remained skeptical of him since his 2016 campaign. Democrats have criticized him for appointing Supreme Court justices who helped overturn national abortion rights, which they argue jeopardizes IVF access. Vice President Kamala Harris called Trump’s IVF comment “quite bizarre” when asked about it.

Despite some success with white women in 2020, overall, Trump continues to face an uphill battle in appealing to female voters.
